Job Description

A global logistics and supply chain organization is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to support its U.S. and Canadian Air & Sea and Contract Logistics divisions. Reporting to the Head of Legal, North America, this role serves as the primary legal advisor for complex commercial, regulatory, and operational matters in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements (air/ocean transport, NVOCC, warehousing, 3PL/4PL, trucking, brokerage, real estate, equipment finance).
  • Manage litigation and pre-litigation matters with a practical and cost-effective approach.
  • Advise senior leadership on legal risks, regulatory compliance, and mitigation strategies.
  • Support corporate compliance programs and provide internal training.
  • Manage corporate governance tasks: entity documentation, company formations, resolutions, consents, annual meetings.
  • Partner with HR on employment matters and policy implementation.
  • Collaborate with global and cross-functional teams; monitor legal trends impacting operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active bar membership (or eligible under in-house counsel rules).
  • 3+ years of legal experience, ideally with in-house exposure.
  • Experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or maritime industries.
  • Strong contract negotiation background and knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to manage high-volume workflows and provide business-oriented legal guidance.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills; proactive and detail-focused.

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of FMC regulations, global trade compliance (sanctions, export controls, anti-boycott, customs), anti-corruption laws, and data privacy requirements (GDPR, CCPA).
  • 2+ years of leadership or managerial experience.
